I will miss Dr. Gerrard. He was my favorite teacher at GRJC, and became something of a mentor to me. He helped many students over the years. He was a true Renaissance Man, a great guy and a good friend.

I will miss Allen. He was my my Spanish professor when I attended GRJC in 1961-1963. We kept in contact over the years.I enjoyed our annual visits and the trips to the Casino Club.

I took Spanish from Allen at GRJC from 1961 to 1963.  He was the only professor that I kept in contact with even though I moved to Texas. I always enjoyed our visits. I last saw him in Grand Rapids in June of 2010.  Even though he had some health problems at that time he was, as always, very positive and cheerful.

I first met Dr. Gerrard during my CNA training at Valley Training Center. The clinical site was Heather Hills Care Center. Doc's warm-heartedness and generativity were immediately apparent as a small batch of students practiced their new skills. When I was hired in September, my thoughts returned to those residents I remembered from training.  Doc was first because of his gentle spirit, good conversation and warm smile.  He is on the minds of many of my colleagues today and will be missed.  Blessings to Dr. Gerrard's family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Gerrard at Heather Hills...he was my Monopoly partner during family day, and last saw him around Halloween.  What a wonderful kind-hearted man...he will be missed and my deepest sympathy to the family..

I had the opportunity to meet Allen while teaching at the college.  We taught in different divisions but knew each other through various organizations and social events.  Allen was well respected by faculty and students.  I recall how attentive he was to his wife during the many years of her illness.  The college is definitely a better institution thanks to the efforts of Allen. May your memories be a source of comfort to you.       Linda Love Stewart

Doc was my favorite prof (spanish of course) at G.R.J.C. back in 1974- 1975. I  have many good memories of that time. He always gave me straight A's. Doc was instrumental in helping me learn to ski...starting in 1983; in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I was scared to death, and he helped me to relax and enjoy the beauty of those amazing Teton Mountains. He always had a story, a fact, something relavent to share. We became fast friends, and even though he was 40 years older than me, we always had an amazing time together. Whether we were skiing, hot tubbing, dancing, or sitting in church together; he was always uplifting, and always teaching. My husband Jeff and I and our daughter Brittany, who is Doc's God-daughter, will miss him dearly. We love you Doc...and we know you are right where you have always wanted to be...on the great ski slopes of Heaven with your true love, Joyce. FUBAR!!

Mr. Gerrard or Doc as many of us here at Heather Hills Care Center knew him by, will be missed very much and our condolences goes out to the family.

Allen touched the hearts of so many!  His quick wit, willingness to be of assistance to so many and his constant quest for knowledge are just a few of his wonderful attributes.  Allen was a great assistant in the church office, showing up loyally to do the monthly newsletter along with two others.  Allen would entertain us with his one line zingers every now and then totally catching us off guard!  That will always be treasured.  Just before Allen gave up driving we had an emergency at the church.  One of our IHN guests spoke no English....Allen drove over and in his weakened, breathless condition attempted to translate.  It was just too much....he left us his Spanish/English Dictionary.  
You will be missed kind man.  You were a gentleman in every sense of the word.
Ted, Linda, Bruce and family...may the warm thoughts, wishes and prayers of those that love you sustain and give you the strength to get through these tough days.  We will ALL continue to keep you in our prayers for the days and weeks to come.

My condolences on the loss of your father and my favorite professor from GRJC.  After I got out of school and got into real estate, I sold your home on Ann Street.  A few years later, your dad and I renewed our friendship in the GR Symphony Chorus.  He was a wonderful and kind man and will be missed.

I have known Allen since we came to St. Andrew's almost 4 years ago.  I enjoyed many times listening to his stories and hearing of the ways he's blessed others by his presence in this world.  He will be greatly missed and remembered dearly.  My condolences to his family, may your grief be turned to joy and the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with you always.

I've known Mr. Gerrard since St. Paul's on Leonard Street.  He was a kind man and a gentleman.  After I had gone through the trauma of an Amazon River piracy in 1993, he translated my police report for insurance purposes.  Although his presence is gone, he will always be with us in spirit.
