Dennis James Velting

Dennis J. Velting, 62, of Perry, passed away on July 4, 2025 in the hospital after a long battle with multiple health issues. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 26, 1963. He graduated from Kelloggsville High School in the class of 1982. On February 5, 1994, he married JoAnn (Britton) Velting. He was most recently living in Caledonia, MI.

Dennis worked as a truck driver for over 30 years. He was proud to share that he had been through all of the lower 48 states and that his favorite place was the Rockies. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing games, especially Wii bowling, as well as being an avid outdoorsman.

Dennis was a kind and caring soul. He was always willing to help family, friends and community in any way that he could.

Dennis is preceded in death by his wife JoAnn and his parents Donald and Joan (Haskins) Velting.

He is survived by his children Melissa Britton of Carlsbad NM, Michael and Amanda (Hodgkinson) Velting of Traverse City MI, and Matthew Velting of Perry MI, his two grandchildren Ava and Isaiah Calderon of Carlsbad NM, his sister Cathy (Velting) and Dave Renkema of Jenison MI, his brother Allen and Jenni (Slabbekoorn) Velting, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Monday July 14, 2025 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:00 PM prior to the service.
