Edith Marie Wierenga

Edith Marie Wierenga (Vanbennekom), age 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 22, 2013. She will be deeply missed by her loving children Peggy (Larry) Dells, Marcia ( Wayne) Fish, and Robert (Karen) Wierenga; grandchildren Raymond Dells, Lori Hoag, Barbara Porter, Charlie Fish, Mike Fish, Jeff Wierenga, Sarah Smoger, Matthew Wierenga, and Patrick Wierenga; sister-in-law Ellen VanBennekon; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Wierenga; and her 7 siblings. Edith worked for Michigan Bulb for 13 years, with her husband Kenneth, before retiring to spend time with her family. In her free time she enjoyed watching The Detroit Tigers, The Detroit Redwings, and above all else her grandchildrens sporting events. She deeply loved the sport of bowling for over 65 years and competed at both the state and national levels. The family will be greeting friends on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel; 2815 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505. The service to celebrate Edith’s life will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (3215 4 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525), directly following a visitation from 10-11 am.
