

Mrs. Garnett Lee (Niewiadomski) Patten, aged 73 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Wednesday February 16, 2011 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her brothers, William, Stanley, Charles, and Michael Niewiadomski. Surviving are her children, Kathryn and Barry Keefe of Wheaton IL., Sandy and Daane Spielmaker of Ada, Michael Patten of Grand Rapids, Patrick Patten of Allendale, Christopher Patten of Chicago, IL., Deborah (Scott Blackburn) Patten of Grand Rapids. Her grandchildren, Aidan and Alex Keefe, Alyssa and Chris Farnham, Madelyn Spielmaker, Trevor and Emily Patten, Erin and Elyse Blackburn. Her brother, Gerald (Barb) Niewiadomski, and her beloved sister, Diane (Vern) VanderStelt. Sisters-in-law, Ethel Niewiadomski and Carol Niewiadomski, many nieces, nephews, and her dear friends of 50 years, Vicky, Alice, Marcia, Cindy, Ruth, and Nancy. Garnett is also survived by a very special angel in her life, Beth VanDyke. Garnett was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. After marrying the love of her life and raising six children, some of her proudest accomplishments included furthering her education at Grand Rapids Junior College, reconnecting with her Native American heritage, continuing to develop her deep faith in God as well as creating a close knit family. Garnett will always be remembered as our show tune singing, beach going, fun loving, gardening angel. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:00 a.m. Tuesday February 22 at St. Isidore's Catholic Church, 628 Diamond Ave. N.E. (meet at church) with Rev. Donald E. Lomasiewicz as Celebrant. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. If you would like to pay your respects to Garnett, please visit the Reyers North Valley Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday February 21 where a Rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m.
