

James “Jim” Michael Sullivan, 76, of Grand Rapids died early Monday morning September 20, 2010 at his residence. He was born May 9th, 1934 in Grand Rapids and was the son of the late Forrest C. & Mary Angela (Doyle) Sullivan. Jim proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy an Air Force. He retired after 30 plus years of service from Spartan Industries as a truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post #47 in Comstock Park. Jim was an avid golfer and bowler. He greatly enjoyed his automobiles and being outside on his motorcycle. He loved his family greatly and enjoyed spending time with them. Jim’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren played a major role in his life. He loved traveling and visiting family in North Carolina every year. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Shirley (Sytsma) Sullivan; two son, Michael and Rick (wife-Sue) Sullivan; a daughter Debra (husband-Thomas) Moore; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and expecting the seventh one very soon. A very special and best friend John Kalanta; several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 23rd, 2010 at Reyers North Valley Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Denis J. Ryan, CSsR from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church as celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. Memorial Contributions can be made to Faith Hospice with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
