Judith Colleen Major

Judith C. Major, age 84, of Belmont, MI passed away on March 6, 2026. She was born on August 17, 1941 to Jack and Jeanne Kenny. Judy was born and raised in Grand Rapids and lived there most of her life. She moved to Belmont in her retirement years and was an avid seamstress and was a member of the Red Hats and the Rockford Berry Patchers. Judy was always thinking of ways to help others, had a good and quiet sense of humor, and always had a smile on her face. She was once spotlighted on Fox 17 as a person of the month for volunteer work she did for "Mats for Haiti".

Judy attended St. Alphonsus and Catholic Central, Class of 1959. Judy was able to attend her 65th class reunion in 2024 and has stayed in contact with many of her friends over the years.

Her teaching degree was from Western Michigan University, her first Master's degree in Arts was from Michigan State University and her second Master's degree was in Management from Aquinas College.

Judy taught school for a few years until she adopted Craig and Jodi. After her divorce she raised her two children on her own and began a career at Michcon. She worked at Michcon for many years and retired from there. She enjoyed being a part of Toastmasters and was very proud of her achievements. Judy lived a very full life! At the age of 75 she reached a milestone of swimming 1 mile at the Rockford YMCA, where she was a member for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Jeanne Kenny; brothers, Jack Kenny and Tom Kenny; and son, Craig Major.

Judy is survived by her loving daughter, Jodi Reynolds; sister, Peggy Kenny (Steve Smith); her grandchildren, Jacob Major (Sydney), Tyler Major, Reid Reynolds, Rian Reynolds (ReAnna Romero); great-grandchildren, Leonidas Aurelius Major and Reina Mae Reynolds; sisters-in-law, Ruth Kenny and Nancy Kenny; daughter-in-law Laurie Major; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she will be dearly missed by them all!
