Julia spent her career working as a switchboard operator for Meijer where she retired after 30 years of service.
When she was able to kick back and relax, Julia was frequently found on the dance floor, from polkas to line dancing if the music was playing, she was dancing. To say Julie loved to shop is an understatement! She enjoyed hitting craft shows, sales at the mall, and she was well known for her QVC shopping. She was also an avid U of M fan.
Most importantly, Julia was about family. Her favorite thing to do was attend her grandchildren’s events, and was their biggest cheerleader. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother. She has left a legacy of laughter, memories and love.
She is survived by her children: Camilla (Mark) Hooper, Gregory Heintz, Timothy Beukema, Amy (Tony) DeKubber and Abigail (Matt) Sobie; her grandchildren: Nicole, Aleia, Casey, Heather, Lucas, Kayla, Curtis and Jacob; her great-grandchildren Kinsley and Colson, and she was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Wesley this April, and her sister Nancy (Dave) DeJonge as well as many other relatives.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Wesley Heintz, in March of 2020, her son Matthew Heintz; her brothers: Carl, Bob, Ray, Ron & Gordy Dewey and her sister, Virginia Meyer.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday January 4, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel.
Memorial Contributions in Julia’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
