Julianna Upton

Our Dear Mom passed into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Her “Blessed Assurance in Heaven” realized! Our Mother enjoyed and was blessed with 93 years on this earth!

Julianna was born in Elberta/Frankfort, Michigan, and resided in the Wyoming and Grand Rapids area for most of her life.

It was important to her to be surrounded by her family, and grateful for every chance she had to be with them. Always active in her church, reading and enjoying her Bible every day. Our mother was the biggest “Prayer Warrior” for our family and friends. Tea Parties with her great granddaughters, every chance she could get. Loved knitting cotton dish cloths and giving them away. Back a few years (40 yrs) she did Cross Country Skiing, she entered in a race and placed in her age group! Our children will remember all the root beer floats made with butter pecan ice cream and all the hot fudge sundaes that our Mom made for them. . Enjoyed working at Arbys in Wyoming for 20 years, enjoyed the breakfast regulars there. Took pride in everything she did. Loved her country and always had her American flag flying! She was never without it! She was a true Patriot!

Julianna will be missed by her Family. Children; Wilfred “Bill” Upton, Christine and (Mike) Fase, Carolyn and (Jack) Berry, Thomas “Tom” and (Diane) Upton. Grandchildren; Joe and (Sherry) Upton, Jason and (Melissa) Upton, Gena and (Sean) Dolan, Anne and (Mike) Korte, Pete & (Mary) Konyndyk, Cara and (Dennis) Junghans, Josh and (Christi) Berry, Jayna and (Dan) Rosentreter, Karla and (Jameson) Higgins, Shannon and (Andrew) Wirtinen, Jason and (Tanya) Loosenort, Jessica and (Jeff Pittman), Nicole and (Zack) VanSetters; 33 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren which includes a baby girl coming in March! Julianna is survived by one brother, William Kjergaard, 22 Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Upton, daughter-in-law Yvonne Upton, siblings; Waldemar and (Dorothy) Kjergaard, Genevieve and (Paul) Buchanan, and Irvin Kjergaard. Parents; Waldemar Kjergaard and Hazel (Bramer) Kjergaard.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Rd, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Visitation is 10:00am to 12:00 noon, the service at noon, Luncheon to follow at the church . Pastor Lew Vander Meer will be officiating.
