Larry Gene Lawrence

Larry Gene Lawrence, age 74, passed away Friday June 19 while surrounded by family. Larry was born in Grand Rapids in 1940 to Arthur and Alma Lawrence who with two of his brothers, Richard and George Lawrence, preceded him in death. Larry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years Barbara J. (White) whom he married in 1962. Also surviving are children; Larry G. "Jay" Lawrence, Wendy L. Lawrence and Michelle M. (Mark) Nowicki, grandchildren; Nicholas G. (Sadie) Nowicki, Taylor A. Nowicki, Olivia M. Nowicki and Markie B.K. Nowicki, siblings; Arlene Doyle, Diane Lawrence, Sandy (Bob) Vanocker, Kathy (Steve) Knowlton, Jerry Lawrence, Dave (Judy) Lawrence as well as many nieces and nephews. Larry will also be fondly remembered by the hundreds of loyal customers, many who became close and dear family friends. With a 9th grade education from Union High School, Larry founded and operated with his brother Dave, several businesses in Grand Rapids; the Hill Top Party Store, B&B Party Store, B&B Beverage and B&B Liquors on 28th Street and Breton Rd. (still family owned). Larry enjoyed his work, music, visiting Disney World but most of all he loved and cherished the time spent with family. A Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled on Friday June 26, 2015 at 11am at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish (2275 Diamond Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505). Family will be receiving guests at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Thursday June 25, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a Prayer Vigil at 7:45pm.
