On Saturday, August 1, 2020, Marjorie Arlene (Weller) Huizinga, passed away at the age of 104. She is united with her heavenly Father and the loved ones that have gone before.Marjorie was born on December 14, 1915 in Cedar Springs, MI to Chauncey and Myrtie (Waddell) Weller. Orphaned at 10, her beloved sister and husband raised her. After high school, she worked at Wolverine Brass Co, where she met Gelmer Huizinga. On June 30, 1939, they married. They were blessed with a son, Kenneth, and daughters, Marilyn Veltman (Dan), Kathy Most and Jill VanOcker.Her goal in life was to serve the Lord. He had given her forgiveness of sin and faith that he would be there for the good times and bad. She and Dad raised their children with love, patience and to know and serve God by helping others. She taught Sunday School and shipped supplies to India for a medical missionary. She taught sewing to young girls, helped at school and took kids to VBS. She enjoyed quilting, working on our genealogy and painting. She was best known for her fishing skills. When no one else was catching, she was! Preceding her in death was Gelmer, husband of 48 years, daughter-in-law (Aggie Huizinga), son-in-law (Frank Most), her parents, brothers, their spouses and Art and Cynthia Oom who raised her. Her extended family includes eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and nieces Eloise Franke and Donna Brunsink.Our sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at Heather Hills, their Village Care, and Spectrum Hospice for their love and support to both Marjorie and her family of the last four years.A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 2050 Aberdeen St. NE Grand Rapids, MI. Visitation is Tuesday August 11, 2020 at 10:00 am. Service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Spectrum Hospice Foundation or Trinity Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
