Marta Beatriz Martinez was born January 19, 1942 to Felipe Martinez & Emerita Boffil in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She lived 75 long years fulfilling her purpose on this earth until July 09, 2017. She created and held together a family of 42 and did the best she knew how. Marta was survived by her 7 children, Marta, Alma, Jose, Jacqueline, Myriam, Ruben and Beatrice. 17 Grandchildren, 17great grandchildren, sister Elmie and Brother Frau.. She was preceded in death, by her daughter Wanda, her sisters Carmen and Lila as well as her brothers Pipe and Pelludo. Mama raised 7 children in Brooklyn New York where she also began her Journey of being a grandmother in July of 1984. In the early 90's she faced a life changing event, she underwent a huge surgery and became a survivor. Her "Papito Dios" knew her job had not yet been done, she had so much more to see, so much more love to give and wisdom to share. God knows we needed it. MAMA prayed to have a large and healthy family and the good lord continued to bless her with grandchildren until the very last of her days. We brought her so much joy and gave her so much more reason to fight! In the Later 90's Mama Betty followed her adult children and young grandchildren to this beautiful state of Michigan, to continue to help raise, support and encourage the empire that she had built! There aren't enough words to express how thankful we are for you!
Mama blessed so many lives on this earth and I can confidently say we will ALL miss her unconditional Love, she treated every one of us as if we were the most special person in this world and she sure had the way of making you see your worth! We could do no wrong in her eyes and she firmly stood up for us and all that she believed in. We will miss her sincere prayers for our success, the sky was the limit for us and she made us see that at times didn’t think we could. Her home remedies were one of a kind! We all rubbed Vicks on our heads at some point in our lives, drank her warm handmade teas, the homemade coffee freshly brewed by hand not ever a coffee pot and even put thread on the middle of our babies foreheads when they had hiccups. We called her to get a stain out of a shirt for an interview or to hem our pants for a party.. We will miss the comfort food she made us when we were Ill or even just to gather us as a family. Her amazing cooking can never be duplicated and her unending amount of love and wisdom will remain with us forever. The one thing every last one of us will miss is leaving her home as she watched and prayed over us. 100 kisses weren't enough, her tight genuine hugs and how she told us she loved us as many times as she could until we were no longer close enough to hear her voice. She blessed our every step and waved until she could no longer see us.
Our Mother, Grandmother, Our Queen!! This isn't good bye, this is "UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN."
