Mary Ann Morris

In the mid 1950’s Mary met Walt Morris shortly after he was discharged from the service, and they quickly became smitten with each other. They were united in marriage on September 28, 1957, and shared a life full of love and commitment.

After Mary graduated from Catholic Central High School, she initially worked in a title office before leaving the position to raise her family. Once her children were in school, she began working for Northview Public Schools as a teacher's aide, contributing her talents wherever needed—in the lunchroom, on the playground, and in the classroom.

Mary had a passion for traveling and enjoyed walking the beaches, collecting rocks and driftwood from her adventures. She loved traveling to the Western Upper Peninsula and chasing waterfalls with Walt. She also enjoyed visiting Port Huron and watching the freighters.

Mary loved being a grandmother and was proud of her grandkids. Mary loved following their athletic journeys attending many games, matches or races over the years.

In her early years, Mary played softball and was a bowler, participating in several ladies' leagues over the years.

Mary owned a 1966 Mustang. She and Walt enjoyed attending car shows and had been members of local car clubs. Gardening and tending to her plants brought her joy, and she was known for her sweet tooth, often gifting boxes of chocolates to friends and keeping her house stocked with candy, especially Junior Mints and Milky Ways. Mary loved cats and had several over the years. Her current kitty, Holly, survives her. She was also a diehard Chicago Bears fan.

A traditional Polish lady who was known for making the best Kielbasa. She enjoyed laughing and playful jokes, Mary was known for her graciousness and deep faith. She was a beloved and devoted wife, compassionate mother, and feisty and humorous lady who touched the lives of all she knew. Mary made friends wherever she went.

She will be remembered for always replying to "I love you" with "Love you more."

Mary is survived by her children Laurie (Rick) Timmer and Gary (Janeen) Morris; her grandchildren: Ezekiel (Teran) Timmer, Zane Timmer, and Keaton Morris; her great-granddaughter Wrenley Timmer; and her sister Betty Theeuwes, as well as many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Walt, on July 19, 2025, her 2-year-old son Lawrence Gene Morris, and her brother Joe Zalewski.

Visitation for Mary will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel, located at 2815 Fuller Ave N.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49505. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Humane Society of West Michigan.
