MaryAnn Snell

MaryAnn Snell, age 78, of Grand Rapids, passed away on June 30, 2024. She was the daughter of Herold and Esther (Lachmann) Kober of Conklin, MI. She was a graduate of Sparta High School Class of 1964. She married Chris Snell on July 30, 1977, and he preceded her in death in May 2013. MaryAnn was a dedicated employee for Meijer, she worked in warehouse distribution for 30 years before retiring in 2003.

MaryAnn was a long-time parishioner of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she shared her love and gift of music by playing the organ and piano and directing and singing in the choir. MaryAnn enjoyed playing softball, golf, racing, and attending and cheering on her grandchildren at all their events. She was thoughtful and never forgot to send birthday cards to her family and friends. MaryAnn was feisty, determined, strong-willed, and resilient. She will be deeply missed.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband Chris; her parents Herold and Esther; her brothers; Wayne and Walter, her sister-in-law; Ruth Ann Kober, and her niece; Nancy Iwaniw.

MaryAnn is survived by her daughters; Sonya Roach, and Karla (John) Finn; grandchildren, Matthew (Lynette) Roach, Zachary (Tiana) Roach, Abigail Finn (Fiance, Jared Howell), and Kyle Finn; great-grandchildren; Kelan, Ayden, and Chase; sister, Marlene (Dwight) Anderson; as well as, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2727 5 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Please join the family to share fellowship and food immediately following the service. MaryAnn will be interred in Fairplains Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church music fund.
