Robert Joseph Gumieny

Robert Joseph Gumieny, age 81, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, departed this life on February 06, 2026. Born on July 25, 1944, in Manistee, Michigan, Bob was the son of the late Edward and Garnet (Peck) Gumieny. He is also preceded in death by his siblings Irene Au Clair, Edly Gumieny, Larry (Donna Karine) Gumieny, Simione “Sue” Gumieny, Marny (Alan Sr.) DeBoer; nephew Gregory Gumieny; great-nephew Jonah Gumieny; and great-grandson Sebastian Doyle.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Linda (Paschka); his daughters Jennifer (Brian) Novak and Julie Sweeris; son Edward; grandchildren Chase Thomas, Eric Sweeris, and Heather Sweeris; great-granddaughter Dagny Deverman; sisters Ruthetta and Frances (Ray) Cerka; many nieces and nephews, additional family, previous work colleagues, and friends.

Bob lived a life full of purpose and love. He graduated valedictorian of his class from St. Joseph High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ferris State University. Known for his kindness, friendly smile, and sense of humor, Bob spent his retirement enjoying his daily walks, serving his church, and volunteering at various food banks throughout the Grand Rapids area.

The family would like to thank Faith Hospice for their compassionate care during his final days.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be scheduled at a later date.
