Robert G. Paul, age 90, passed away on May 17, 2022. Bob was born on July 17, 1931, on Mount Adams, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He entered the world in the family home overlooking the Ohio River. Bob grew up helping his father with the chickens, home building and house chores.
After working himself through Xavier University, he built a successful career as a corporate executive. Bob was a man of great faith. He held strongly to his Catholic beliefs and was active in his church.
Bob was happiest when spending time at his cottage with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Hazel; his infant daughter, Jennifer; his parents, Robert and Katherine (Smith) Paul and his brother, Ronald. Bob is survived by his children, Barbara (Mike) Scanlan, Katherine (Werner) Hildebrand, Stephen (Karen) Paul, John (Terri) Paul and Carol (Jim) Hall; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1449 Wilcox Park Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. The family will receive friends for one hour before the service.
Bob’s generosity and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. The family takes comfort in knowing he died on his own terms very peacefully in his home.
Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Right to Life Grand Rapids.
