Roger DeYoung

Roger DeYoung aged 86, of Grand Rapids passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by his son Steven DeYoung and 13 brothers and sisters. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years Eleanor, children; Dennis (Peggy) DeYoung, Karla Weaver, step-children; Barbara (Thomas) Pobojewski, Kathleen DeMaar, grandchildren; Todd DeYoung, Deidre DeYoung, Kris DeYoung, Rhiannon DeYoung, Rebecca (Jason) Westra, Christina Weaver, Scott (Karen) Pobojewski, Eric (Beth) Pobojewski, Jayne Jackson, Edward DeMaar, John (Jamie) DeMaar, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends and his best friend dog Teddy. Roger was in the Army and a WWII Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Creston Post. Roger spent 36 years of his professional career at Rapistan in Grand Rapids. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church 1429 Wilcox Park Drive SE with Rev James Chelich as celebrant. Friends and relatives may greet Roger’s family on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE. For those who wish memorials can be made to American Heart Association or Kent County Humane Society.
