Scott A. Cherry

Scott A. Cherry, age 59, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 in the comfort of his home with family by his side. He was born in 1956 in Grand Rapids, MI to Robert and Virginia Cherry. Along with his parents Scott was preceded in death by his brother Jim and beloved bulldog “Chowder”. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Mary [Stoddard], children Sara (Scott) Peterman, Ted (Maggie) Cherry, Ryan ( Daija) Cherry, grandchildren Jasper, Malena, Julieann, Ellie and a cherry pie baking in the oven until July! Also surviving are brothers Fred (Sylvia) and Bill (Carol) Cherry as well as many Nieces and Nephews especially niece Kathy who was like a daughter to Scott. He was passionate about and enjoyed listening to music. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed canoeing and was a diehard fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. The Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Pat Grile will be held at St. Alphonsus Parish (224 Carrier St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505) on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 2 PM. Visitation will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 5-8pm with an additional hour of visitation at church from 1-2 PM prior to the mass. Memorial contributions in memory of Scott may be directed to Faith Hospice (2100 Raybrook St. SE STE 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546-5783).
