Just saw this Conni.  Alton Sova so sorry to hear of Bill's passing.  He sends his sympathy to you and the girls.  His health is failing also.  Just moved into a nursing home.

I always looked forward as a kid, visiting Bill and Jack. Never forget 3 days with Bill on Pickerel Lake. I might have been around 10 at the time. We fished and skied every day.  It was a great time!

So sorry to hear , this disease is known as the long goodbye.
I know as we experienced with my mother and now my sister.

I met Bill in the 7th grade at Riverside Junior High. We became friends then and it continued up to the day he died. He did manage to get us into trouble on many occasions. We laughed often and had much fun together.
In later life we enjoyed many meals together usually followed by bridge or other card games. 
Bill has two great daughters and six grandchildren and he was so proud of all of them. He asked Connie out for their first date by telephone from my house.
The last couple of years have been difficult to see Bill's health decline and the burden that resulted for Connie. 
We will miss Bill big time! Our deepest sympathy to Connie, Lisa, Mark, Ava, Ella, Evan, Laura, Bryan, Sophia, Dallas and Lily.



  Did you know anybody that didn't love Bill Newberry?  His friends called him "Noodles'. That reddish hair, those freckles and that constant grin. Nobody had more fun and joked more than "Noodles". 
  Bill and I started hanging out the summer before our high school Senior year. Bill went to Creston HS and I got bused to Union HS. (My two older brothers went to Creston)  Most of my friends were at Creston:  "Noodles", "Wire" ( Gordy Berridge), "Jake" (Bob Solomon), Mike Sullivan and Herm Marsman.  
  Noodles was a car freak and I had a brand new '64 Chevy.  Bill loved cars.  The faster the better. 
 Our friendship cemented in the fall of 1964 when Bill and I ended up at Grand Rapids JC.  Together with Gordy Berridge, the three of us joined the "Squires"  fraternity at JC.  The parties were unbelievable. That was the best time of my life. I met my future wife, Sally Ebert, at 
JC that year.  Bill's future wife Connie Tang was at JC also. That scene at JC was something else.
  I got kicked out of GRJC and joined the Air Force.  Bill went on to finish college. 
  Bill and Connie got married on Saturday August 19, 1967. Sally and I got married the following Wednesday while I was home on leave from the Air Force. We went on a double honeymoon for a few days before we went our separate ways.  
  Later, after I graduated from college, we hung out with the other families from the "North End", playing softball and bowling and such.  
  Slowly as our family's grew, children and then grand-children, we drifted apart.
  Noodles, I will never forget you.  Your laughter, your grin, and most of all, your mischievousness.  Rest in peace my friend.
