Delbert Dean Beebe was born to George Andrew Beebe and Lillian Rebecca (Prince-Clark) Beebe at Coldwater, Kansas, on March 27, 1936. Delbert passed away early morning on Saturday March 16, 2024 at his son's home from heart failure. He was 87 years old with only 10 days until his birthday.
Delbert is preceded in his death by his parents George and Lillian, his wife Kathy, 6 brothers: Jerry Beebe, Harry Beebe, Arthur Beebe, (Lee) Elbert Beebe, Marion Beebe, Hiram Rodger Beebe, and sister Dollie Beebe (Olds). He is survived by his siblings Clayton Beebe and Clifford Beebe, two children, Douglas Dean Beebe and his wife Marilyn Anne (Roesti) Beebe, and Vivian Rosemary Beebe and her husband Jim Edward Bound, and three grandchildren, Steven Bound, Kristin Bound and Brendan Beebe.
Delbert grew up within a large family of 8 brothers and 1 sister who all lived in a one bedroom home outside of Erie Kansas. He learned good work ethic from the beginning growing up working in farm life. Delbert graduated in 1955 from High School in Erie Kansas. He went enlisted in the army in October of 1958 spending 8 years working and traveling, eventually serving on the tank team as Tactical vehicle Mechanic Specialist 4th class, Troop C 4th Reconnaissance Squadron in the 4th Cavalry division. Delbert married Katharine Anne (Klaus) Beebe on April 28, 1963 and was with her 49 years until her passing. They raised two children and had the pleasure of three grandchildren.
Delbert was a jack of all trades. He did farm work as a youth and became a truck driver later but all things mechanical were where he excelled and eventually he found himself in being a mechanic. He could fix almost anything. He was a workaholic so he wasn’t home a great deal but he was always ready if someone needed help, from family and friends needing car repairs, even while on the road, to someone just needing a little extra muscle to get a job done. He loved time spent with his brothers and sister and that was when he smiled and relaxed the most. He loved his dogs and even rescued his favorite, Buddy, from being a dumped puppy wandering the parking lot at Leawood Conoco where he worked many years looking for food in winter and again later from a fall into the creek behind his home in Shawnee. Many charities found Delbert was a generous contributor. He loved reading the Bible and had many well used devotional books. His neighbors knew his love for listening to preachers on television as his deafness in later life kept the volume on high. He will be missed by all who knew his warm smile and laughter and his willingness to help.
