

Melvin Ruehling, 79, of Grandview, MO, passed away November 16, 2011 at the Missouri Veterans Home Warrensburg, MO where he had been for five years. Visitation 2-4 pm Sunday, November 20 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 5901 E 135th St in Grandview. Funeral services 10:00 am Monday at the church. Burial in Belton Cemetery. Melvin was born March 30, 1932 in Rockville, MO to Walter and Lena Ruehling. He attended Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, MO and Zion Lutheran School, and High School in Rockville MO. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Melvin retired from the Grandview Post Office in 1989. He married Genavie Kline June 10, 1956 and they had a son and daughter. Melvin was a very talented mechanic and loved to work on his cars and lawn mowers. He was a very caring person and a very devoted Christian who loved the Lord. Melvin was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Grandview for many years where he was a very active member. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by wife of 55 years, Genavie of the home; son, Tim Ruehling and wife, Renee, Belton MO; daughter, Kim Treccariche and husband, Tommy, Raymore MO; two sisters, Opal Bowman, Overland Park KS and Beulah Siegert, Bashor KS; 5 grandchildren, Ashley, Clint, Matthew, Corey and Spencer; one great grandson, Trevor.
