Raymond C Myers

Raymond was born on November 19, 1933 in Eudora, Arkansas. He was born to the union of Hattie Mae Reese and Will C. Myers. At the age of four he went to live with his father, Will C. Myers, and his wife, Virginia Myers. In 1939, the family moved to Kansas City, MO where he studied auto mechanics at R. T. Coles Vocational High School and upon graduation, he opened his own garage. He was drafted to the U.S. Army in 1955 where he served as a Military Policeman in Frankfurt, Germany. After his military service he returned to Kansas City where he opened his own heating and cooling company while also working as Clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. He retired from the Postal Service after 33 years.

On March 5, 1956, he was untied in marriage to Maxine Garrett. On February 16, 1958, they renewed their vows. To this union, three children were born; Michele, Byron, and Rai. He was blessed to welcome four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He and his family became members of St. Monica Catholic Church. In 1985, he joined the Knights of Peter Claver, Council #57, and was an active member until his health began to fail.

His wife, Maxine, and his brother, Melvin Thomas, preceded him in death. Raymond leaves behind to love and cherish his memory: his three children, Michele Jones (Tony), Byron Myers, and Rai Myers; four grandchildren, Devin Myers-Putman (Mauria), Anthony Jones (Clara), Travis Jones, and Apryl Myers; one great-grandchild, Aliyah Myers-Putman; his sister-in-law, Bettye Garrett; four nieces, Sylvia Cook, Jackie Guy, Diahann Strickland, and Allison Young-Silvers; two nephews, Melvin Thomas, and Christopher Thomas, and a host of great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Raymond's visitation will occur Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Monica's Catholic Church 1616 The Paseo, Kansas City, MO; immediately followed by the mass of christian burial at 11:00 AM. His burial with military honors will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048.
