

Sedne Lou Murray (1943–2026) Sedne L. Murray, 82, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 23, 2026, surrounded by her family and the people who loved her most. Sedne was born on September 30, 1943, in San Mateo, California, to Kenneth and Frances Woolley and was raised in San Francisco. She graduated from Poly Technical High School before beginning her career with the Pacific Bell phone company. Sedne met her beloved husband, James W. Murray, in California in 1964, and the two were married in 1965. Sedne and Jim began their family in San Francisco and later lived in Texas, Indiana, and Colorado before eventually settling in Missouri. Together they enjoyed taking to the sea on numerous cruises, as well as family vacations to Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan and her family’s country property in the Shasta National Forest, California. Sedne had a deep love for animals and especially adored Shih Tzus. Their home was always filled with a couple of loving puppies. Her beloved dog, Millie Mei Mei, was by her side in her final moments. Sedne was a friend to all she met. Throughout her life, she enjoyed decorating, knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening, shopping, and walking many miles with friends and bringing home other peoples discards, in addition to being a devoted mother. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, steady presence, and her remarkable ability to make people feel good about themselves. The warmth and caring she brought to all who knew her will remain forever. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Frances Woolley. She is survived by her beloved husband, James Murray; her brother, Butch Bottimore (Lana) her children, Matthew Murray, Veronica Murray, Nathaniel Murray (Alesha), and Jared Murray (Allison); her grandchildren, Olivia, Isabella, Lennox, and McCoy; and her great-grandchildren, Jace and Myla and the extended Murray and Bowman families. Her cousins, Claudia Silkey, Stephanie Corda (Tom), and O.E. Bear (Joleen); her dear friends Robert Roederer, Lisia and Gene Haggerton, Kristine McKinley, Lynn and Don Crow (Scott and Jason), Jane and Jim Arrendale, The Ray Jordan family, Gwen Perry, James Johnson, Jan and Bud Wiggins and the Winona, MN and La Crosse,WI extended Paszkiewitz family.
