Albina "Al" Johnson

JOHNSON Albina "Al" (Klonis) Johnson, age 91, died peacefully, Friday, October 9, 2015. Albina was born November 10, 1923 in Lithuania to Frank and Agatha (Virbickas) Kluonius and immigrated with her family to the United States as a young child. She grew up on the West Side of Grand Rapids and graduated from Catholic Central High School. When WWII began, Al went to work at Michigan Bell/AT&T, retiring in 1982. She was blessed with many friends from the "phone company" and the Single Parents Club.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Tom (Sharon) Johnson, Sandy (Don) Hines, and Kay (Charlie) VanDrunen; grandchildren, Jon (Bachi) Miranda, Matt Johnson, Andy (Jill) Johnson, Mary (Nathan) Lockard, Jeff (Sarah) Hines, James Hines, Andrew (Heather) VanDrunen, and Brandon VanDrunen; 16 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson SW, Grandville, with Rev. Chris Rouech presiding. Relatives and friends may meet her family Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Cook Funeral Home (east building), 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville and Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the funeral Mass. The Rosary will be prayed Monday at 3:45 PM and her vigil service will be held Monday at 7:30 PM.

Her family will be forever grateful for the loving care and compassion given to mom from so many, including the Pastoral Ministry of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Hospice of Michigan, and MapleCreek - with a special "thank you" to the staff of The Harbor.
