
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norton and Bertha Gilbert; his sister Laurel Hiemstra; brothers, Norris and Victor Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Eulah; his children, Mary VanNus of Wyoming, Diane Henrichs of Janesville, WI, Tom Janis Gilbert of Madison, WI, Ray Gilbert of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Patty and Barry Henrichs, Eric and Aaron Gilbert; sister Marion Hazlett; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Gilbert and Wenona Freeman; and brother and sister in-law, Ward and Faye Freeman.
Arthur was a founding member of Georgetown United Methodist Church and proudly served in the US Army in WWII.
Arthur retired in 1985 from the tool and die trade and in his retirement volunteered at Love Inc. and the Kent Literacy Council.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Georgetown United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Bistayi and John R. Smith officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville 4235 Prairie St. SW - west building.
Memorial contributions may be made to Georgetown United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or Love Inc.
