Brian Jacob VanSingel

VAN SINGEL-Brian Jacob VanSingel. Brian died tragically the morning of August 19, 2013 in a motorcycle accident. He was 29. Brian grew up in Byron Center, Michigan the son of John and Linda VanSingel. He attended Byron Center High School. Following graduation, he entered the tool and die trade. During his career he amassed several pieces of equipment with the dream of starting his own shop, a dream he was near realizing. Brian married Sara (Hazen) VanSingel on October 29, 2011. They had just recently celebrated the birth of their first child, a daughter, Lyndon Marie VanSingel on June 7, 2013. Brian had a passion for all things mechanical, especially ones that went fast. He also had a passion for people. He had grown close to many during his life. He had a zest for life that people wanted to be around him and call him friend.

Brian is survived by his wife Sara, daughter Lyndon, his parents John and Linda VanSingel, and his three siblings, Kevin (Adriana) VanSingel, Andrea (Stephen) Shepherd, and Daniel VanSingel. Nieces and nephews, Caleb, Ana, Gwen, Adele and Mark. Sara's parents, Anita and Rodney Kerber, Mark and Tracy Hazen. Sara's brothers, Matt (Abby) Hazen, Paul (Marcia) Hazen and Kelly Kerber (Jessie). Sara's sister Nicole Kerber (Bill). Sara's nephews's Jaxon, Carter and Quin. Grandparents Tom and Louise Williams, Alyce and Philip Martinez, Jerry and Alice Hazen. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He joins his grandparents, Willard and Jane VanSingel and uncle Bernard Funk in God's Glory. He will be deeply missed.

The funeral mass will be held 10:30 am Friday at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, with Msgr. William Duncan celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center, 2067 84th St. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brian VanSingel Memorial Fund care of Huntington Bank.
