

Bud was a kind and loving man who cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed boating and looking into his Dutch family heritage. Bud loved his Lord and cherished his faith – this was exemplified in how he lived through his helpful and giving personality.
Bud is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Ann Bouma; children Rick (Kay) Bouma, Sheri (Dwight) Preston, Jeff (Cara) Bouma, Lisa (Anthony) Kaly; grandchildren Mitch (Breanna), Josh, Joy (Ethan), Zach, Hope, Seth, Richard, Jarod, Brittany (Christian), Nick, Harper, Miles, John (Brooklyn), Angel (Mike), April (Peyman); 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Phil Bouma; and many extended relatives and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Cornelia Bouma; brother, Donald Bouma; and sister, Mary Anne Bouma.
A funeral service celebrating Bud’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418, with visitation from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Bud will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In memory of Bud and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Feeding America.
