He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis; children Doug and Vicki De Vries, Craig and BettyAnn De Vries, Dave and Barbara De Vries; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings Eva Kornoelje, Linda and Paul Stadt, and Marlene Boven; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son; parents Clarence and Martha De Vries; and brother, Robert De Vries.
Carl was born and raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High in 1957. He became a skilled tool and die maker, working for several shops in the area before retiring to move up to Paradise, MI. After eight years in Paradise, he and Phyllis moved to Waterford Place in Jenison. During Carl’s retirement, he put his talent for building things with detail and precision to good use, proving himself a highly skilled craftsman, working with metal, wood, and stained glass. Everyone in Carl’s community of family and friends has been blessed by his beautiful creations.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, with an hour of visitation prior at Baldwin Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison.
