Catherine Maude Kerr, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away peacefully to join her loving husband in eternal rest January 13, 2025 after a brave and difficult battle with cancer. Catherine was born March 15, 1947, in Reed City, Michigan to the late Orlean and Bernard Ziegler.
Cathy was raised in Reed City, Michigan and graduated from Reed City High School as well as Davenport College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She lived in Lansing, Michigan where she raised her three kids and met her husband, Dave. Years later after retirement, Dave and Cathy moved to Portland, Michigan where they enjoyed their church, friends, family, and camping.
Over the course of her life she worked in various scopes of caregiving. This included working in childcare at her local church’s daycare, tending to the needs of loved ones, and being an amazing mom. For anyone who knew Cathy, it was clear she had a passion and true green thumb for gardening and making flowers bloom. She also had a knack for baking and decorating cakes, making delicious cookies, and other desserts.
In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (Dave) and more recently by her grandson, Christopher Guerra. She is survived by her brother, William; sister, Norma; as well as her daughters Sarah Cole (Dawn) and Rebecca Guerra (Luis); son, Christopher Cole; and five extended children, Tami, Debbie, David, Scott, and Mike, from her husband, Dave. Cathy is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and many caring friends over the years.
A celebration of life for close family and friends will be held in the spring of 2025. This is to allow out of town loved ones and family the opportunity to come together when the weather is nicer, to remember, and celebrate her light. Details to come. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
