

He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Bertha.
Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his beloved and devoted wife of 67 years, Barbara; children Janice (Dennis) Hodges, Rick (Patti) Boom, Debi (Tom) Decot, Susan (Bruce) Ollmann, and Scott (Laura) Boom; grandchildren Kendra (Bryan) Spanjer, Jenny (Eric) Riha, Derek (Jeni) Boom, Jill (Brian) Platte, Heather (Lester) Miller, Nikki Decot-Downs, Frank (Cindy) Decot, Vincent Ollmann, Tori Ollmann, Zach Boom, Shelby Boom, Gavin Boom, and Parker Boom; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Chuck worked at Lear Siegler for 41 years as a Quality Control Engineer. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather with a great sense of humor. Chuck excelled in track and football at South High in Grand Rapids. He was very active in Boy Scouts Troop 338. Chuck was a deacon at Faith Reformed Church. Chuck and Barb where involved in senior high youth group, along with Sunday school and summer Bible school. Chuck was a Navy veteran and served in the Navy Reserves for eight years. He was an avid sports fan of the Michigan Wolverines, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings and especially, Faith Reformed softball. Chuck was an avid gardener and collector of vintage model cars.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 9 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St., S.W., Grandville, MI and one hour before service at church. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Faith Reformed Church, 618 - 32nd Street, S.W., Wyoming. Pastor Bruce Osbeck will be officiating. Interment will be at Garfield Park Cemetery.
In honor of Chuck, contributions may be made to the Autism Society of Michigan.
