
Charles had served with the Zondervan Corporation for 31 years and had been a long time member of Berean Baptist Church. He had a life long love of music, including directing the choir at several area churches and playing his beloved violin for over 80 years.
He will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; children, Paul and Judy Van Horn, Jean and Phillip Verwys and Daniel and Jean Van Horn; grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer Van Horn, Jill and Matt Bowers, Joe Van Horn, Nathan and Andrea Verwys, Marvin Verwys, Betsy Verwys, Dana Van Horn, and Megan Van Horn; great grandchildren, Mason, Grace, Kayla, and Rita; brothers and sister, Robert Van Horn, Lloyd Helen Van Horn, and Lois Howard Whittemore; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Esther Diekema, Marge Alvin Koster, and Jim and Nancy Brumels; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 AM at Berean Baptist Church, 1574 Coit NE, with Rev. Duane Duhon and Rev. Joseph Balbach officiating.
Interment services will be at Fairplains Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may meet Charles’ family Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Van Strien Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield NE.
