Chester E. Carlson

Rev. Chester E. Carlson, age 92, of Oak Crest Community of Kentwood, MI, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 16, 20211. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy, his two brothers and his sister. Surviving are his children: Paul and Linda Carlson of Grand Rapids, MI, David and Kathy Carlson of Franklin, IN and Ruth and George Bassett of Innsbrook, MO. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and their families including 7 great grandchildren.

Rev. Carlson pastored American Baptist Churches in the Illinois communities of Lexington, Melrose Park, Springfield, DeKalb and Park Forest. He also served in Hastings, Nebraska.

Rev. Carlson was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Northern Baptist Seminary. His love of music was evident in the playing of numerous instruments and in his direction of choirs in various communities where he lived, most recently Sunset Village in Jenison, MI where he and his wife lived for more than 17 years.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building), 4235 Prairie Street SW in Grandville, MI with Chaplain Jim Molenbeek of Sunset officiating. Interment will be in Georgetown Cemetery in Jenison, MI.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1 PM Monday.
