

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, David Allen Thompson of Grandville went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 87, after courageously battling multiple health complications. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family.
David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be remembered as a man of God with a deep love for his family. He was also a faithful prayer warrior, in times of trial or triumph, whose steadfast prayers were cherished by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie; children Craig Thompson (Sonja), Shelly Hogue (Rick), Kris Weller (Jerry), Kathy Warner (Tony), and Gregg Warner (Hillary); 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Thompson; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Enid; brother, Bill; and sister-in-law, Shirley.
Known for his sense of humor and his generous spirit, David touched the lives of many through his work and faith. He was a small business owner in Grandville for decades, operating the well-known shop LIVE BAIT, where he built lasting friendships in the community. A proud outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting, passions he shared with those closest to him. He was also a longtime member of Grand Rapids First Church, where his faith guided every part of his life. David’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2025 at Cook Fellowship Room (NOTE - this is on the far west end of the campus), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service.
