Ted, Terry and family, I wanted to send my condolences to all of you. With loosing my Mother 7 months ago I know the pain you are going through. Dear Mr. Thompson & Family,
 Early this morning my husband Mike Anstett learned from his colleague's at X-Rite of Duane's passing. We are deeply saddened.
 Mrs. Thompson is remembered as a really funny lady who let us build things like wooden tanks for pine cone fights and didn't even cringe when she would see us pushing someone in it down the drive way or up the street.
 Some of my fondest memories of Mrs. Thompson were when she would catch me running around your house in a game of capture the flag or hide and seek and snag me for a little one on one time. She would chat me up, while I painted her toes!
 And, who could ever forget the neighbor lady who was always so generous? Each year Mrs. Hatch's campfire group would sell candy and cheese crocks for a fund raiser. Karen Hatch and I would race down to the Thompson house to see who would get there first. But, not to worry, Mrs. Thompson always frequented both our shops, which helped us reach our sales goals and the illustrious prize!
 When I broke my leg on the ice skating pond my brother Mike made in our backyard, Mrs. Thompson visited me frequently and even helped me make a chain link paper cross for the visiting priest at St. Mary's Hospital.
 I have many cherished memories of Mrs. Thompson and I am fortunate to have had her in my life.
 We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

Dear Mr. Thompson and Family,
 I am very sorry to hear of DuaneA's passing. I have fond memories of Mrs. Thompson and her boys growing up in Grandville. She was always very kind to me.
 I have a wonderful memory of her loading up all us kids from the neighborhood into her station wagon and driving us to the local McDonalds for delicious Shamrock shakes! This is just one of many cherished memories.

The staff at Saint Mary's Prep Recovery unit will each remember Duane in a special and loving way. She always took time to share a kind word and a smile even though it was us taking care of her. I am an ambucab driver for American Medical Response and wanted to express my sympathies to Ted and the family, she will be missed by all of us. I enjoyed picking her up and having early morning conversation, we always spoke of things that would make us both smile and start the day right. Ted, I am so sorry for your loss. I met Duane at the 59th District Court when our daughter Julie was hired as the court clerk and I came to watch. We'd sit in the back and chat and she was so kind to so many troubled people. We came to your beautiful home to swim with the staff from the court and had such a great time. I was always proud to be an X-Rite stockholder and enjoyed the meetings and saying Hi to you. Dear Thompson family, I had the wonderful pleasure of being Duane's Secret Pal in my travels around the country..I would send her postcards and such of those places I had the pleasure to visit..I know she got a kick out of getting them! With her health, travel was all but impossible...so I tried to help her see the country through the postcards...It took Duane some time to find out who I was and I know that several times she had questioned Tim..poor Tim...he kept the secret well! I worked for many years with Tim at Steelcase Wood. Please take comfort in knowing that Duane is truly in the presence of GOD...I can only imagine. I had the privilage to work under Mrs. Thompson's supervision on the 3-11pm shift at Saint Marys Hospital back in the 80's, and was very sad to hear of her passing. She set an example for us all, with her deep sense of caring for patients and dedication to her staff. I think back on those days fondly and will always remember the sense of family we had on the second shift. My prayers go out to the entire family in this very difficult time. Just know that there are literally thousands of lives she has touched in one way or another in her long career, and I for one, will never forget her. God's peace and blessings to you all. My mother, Agnes Weiss Blaskowski from Cheboygan MI, attended nursing school with Duane. She so much enjoyed coming to Grand Rapids for get-togethers with her nursing school friends, including Duane. She kept informed about Duane's many medical trials, and recently had heard that her health was failing. I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Thompson was my supervisor at St. Mary's in the late 70's early 80's. She had such a impact on my life. She had a special way about her. I have thought of her so many times over the years. She will be missed.
