

Another super hero crossed over to the other side. There will be no parade or news stories or movies made, that’s not who he was, instead he planted seeds. Earnest A. Barrigear, age 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, August 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Goldie Barrigear; special aunt, Wanda; sister, Linda K. Dickey; brothers Oscar Barrigear, Eugene Barrigear, Gaylord Barrigear and sister-in-law, Marilyn TerHaar. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Carol Barrigear; children David (Karen) Barrigear, Nancy (Douglas) Diemer, Douglas Barrigear, Daniel (Beth) Barrigear; grandchildren Ashley (Josh) Craycraft, Seth (Cheryl) Barrigear, James (Katie) Diemer, Stacey (Braxton) Crowder, Jill (Andrew) Bos, Maxwell Barrigear, Grayson Barrigear, Brittney (Ryan) Prichard, Kelcey (Danny) Duhm, Bradley Barrigear, Cory Barrigear; great-grandchildren MaKayla, Lily Rose, Emily, Carter, Cora, Wyatt, Garret; brother, Virgil Barrigear; special aunt, Luella; brother-in-law, LaVern TerHaar; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Earnest proudly served his country in the United States Navy and the Army National Guard. Earnest had many hobbies, those of which included woodworking, wood carving, square dancing, making stained glass, and working on classic cars. His pride and joy was his 1962 Chevy Nova in which he loved going on drives with Carol. Earnest enjoyed his 50 years at Sandy Pines and the friends he made while there. He was a hardworking man, retiring from General Motors and continuing his work ethic with home and car projects. He had a kind and caring heart, which was influenced by his faith in Christ. He loved his family and his family loved him.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2021 at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428 with visitation from 12 - 2 p.m. prior to the service. Earnest will be laid to rest at Georgetown Cemetery. In memory of Earnest and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Unity Christian High School or local veterans’ services.
