Elliott McIntyre Myers

MYERS Elliott McIntyre Myers “Mac” DVM, age 81, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord, Friday, May 25, 2007. He was born June 17, 1925, in Alma, MI, to John William and Adelaide McIntyre Myers. Mac was brought up in Ithaca, MI, where his father was a lawyer. Mac graduated from Ithaca High School in 1942, attended Michigan State University until entering the Army, in WWII, serving in the Medical Corps until August of 1946, one year was served as a surgical tech in England. Mac got his veterinarian degree from MSU in 1955. He married Joyce Carlson in MN, June 19, 1948. They have three children, Margaret Ronald Peterson, Rebecca Richard Klein and John Wendy Myers; two grandsons Jeremy Southwell and Mark Peterson and four great grandchildren. Mac is survived by his siblings Virgilee George, deceased Tsuda of AR, Bamberlee Richard Barnes of MI, Julius Lenore Arquette Myers of MI and Sue Harold Kellogg of MI. He is also survived by Harold Maggie Carlson of MN and Norman Bonnie Carlson of MN and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Myers came to Grand Rapids, MI 1962 working at the Small Animal Clinic, then began his own practice Pet-Vet Clinic in Grandville, 1965, retiring in 1996. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Elliott’s family will be held from 6-9 pm Tuesday at the Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW west building. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday at the Cook Memorial Chapel east building, with visitation prior to the service from 10 to 10:50 am. In honor of Mac, contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Missionary Fund or Faith Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
