On September 21, 1951, she married Tito Carrasquillo, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents Higinio and Dolores Perez; daughter, Eva Iris Robles; son, Joel Carrasquillo; stepson, Jose Luis Carrasquillo; grandson, Romulo Rangel; sisters Virginia Arce, Aida and Laura Perez; and brothers Milo, Ismael, Roberto, and Jose Perez.
Eva was part of a very large family. She is survived by her children Rosin Rangel, Olga (Bidelson) Pagan, Noemi (Ron) Bistline, Tito (Amanda) Carrasquillo Jr.; grandchildren Sandra (Gustavo) Chavez, Silvia (Dan) Orta, Billy Pagan, Moises (Dawn) Pagan, Josue (Patti) Pagan, Javier (Shalane) Pagan, Edwin J. (Karen) Collazo, Andre (Stasha) Carrasquillo, and Alexsondra Carrasquillo; along with 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Lydia Perez, Olga Rodriquez, Ines Rios; and sisters-in-law Drusila Nunez, Blanca Carrasquillo, Luz Angelica Castrodad, and Noemi Rosario.
Eva and Tito lived in Defiance, Ohio for 30 years. Once retired, they moved back to Puerto Rico for another 30 years, returning in 2006 to be closer to their children. They attended First Church of God where they developed many good friends.
Upon Tito’s death, Eva moved to Grandville, Michigan to live with her daughter. For the last five years, Eva has been attending Grand Rapids First Hispanic ministry.
During Covid she learned how to embroider and gifted over 600 decorated pillowcases, canvas bags, aprons, and table runners. She recently finished her last pillowcase and gave it to a granddaughter who now has five sets. Almost every lady in church has a set. Even at 96 she loved to serve and was always willing to give away anything she had. She will be remembered for her high energy and quick steps, plus her love for cooking and making hundreds of Puerto Rican pastelillos. Oh, how we will miss her.
