Evelyn June Watson

Evelyn June Watson, age 89, a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids and Wyoming went to be with her Lord March 7, 2022. Evelyn was born October 20, 1932 to Isaac and Jessie (Vander Moelen) Heemstra, the youngest of four children.

Evelyn graduated from Grand Rapids Union High in 1950. April 15, 1955 she married Willard Watson, her high school sweetheart. In February 1956, their daughter Cathy was born, and in March of 1958, their son Steven. Evelyn loved to take care of her family, go on family vacations and spend summers at a cottage up north, and attending family gatherings. In April 1989, her grandson, Jeffrey, was born, and in May 1992, her granddaughter Kayla. Evelyn enjoyed spending much time with her grandchildren, especially attending sporting and school events as they grew up. December 12, 2020, her first great grandchild, Dominic, was born and he gave her great joy. Evelyn is survived by her son, Steve (Amy Cyr) Watson; grandchildren Jeff (Jeanna) Watson and Dominic, Kayla Watson and Josh Smith, Levi Roth and Michelle Chang, Miriam Roth, Jared Roth and Hypatia Swanson. She is also survived by her sisters Jo Fenske, Emma Abma; and sister-in-law, Bessie Heemstra. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Heemstra; husband, Willard; and daughter, Cathy Kooistra.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at First Reformed Church in Grandville, with visitation beginning at 3 p.m. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
