

Gary had served proudly with the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, FMF. Following his military service, he worked at General Dynamics in CA, then finished his schooling in AZ, receiving his BA Degree in Business Management. Gary spent 15 years of his Aerospace career with Lear Siegler (Smith Industries) and then retired in 1999 from GEC-Marconi Hazeltine, Long Island, NY, as Director of Engineering.
He was born September 23, 1938 in Santa Maria, CA to Robert and Ailene (Cruse) VanDeVenter. Also preceding him is his step-dad, Carl Braden.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Addie; sons Roger (Michelle), Scott (Jeanne), Glen (Marnie), and Craig (Keri); grandchildren Elric, Shane, Kyle, Parker, Hunter, Alexis, Trina, Alesha, Dylan, Adeline, Kailyn, and Tyler; great grandchildren Eli, Akira, Harmony, Rosaleigh, and Eve; brother Robert (Audrey) Vandeventer; brother-in-law John Carson; and nephews.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Georgetown Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet Gary’s family Monday, September 26, 2016, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie, S.W., Grandville.
