
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a 42-year retiree of Michigan Bell and its successors.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years Patricia; children, Carol Potter of New York and Richard Potter of Clarksville; sister Anna Lewis Guernsey of Ionia; special cousins, Kent McKay of Lowell and A.E. Potter of Ionia; and several nieces and nephews.
George will be remembered as a faithful servant of his church as well as for his involvement in many projects, including Habitat for Humanity.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at his church, Christ Lutheran, 2350 44th SW, with Pastor Timothy Brown officiating.
Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th SW, Byron Center, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Contributions in memory of George may be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Western Michigan or Christ Lutheran Church.
