Irene Tuinstra

Ilene “Irene” Tuinstra (Anderson), age 92 years young - devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother ended her journey here on Earth on Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was surrounded by family when God whispered. He was ready for her. Her family is rejoicing for her because we know her beloved Don and daughter Sue were waiting for her. Nothing brought her more joy than having their home bursting at the seams with family, not only at the holidays, but for any occasion that came along. She loved having the family at the cottage all summer and, for many years, down to Cocoa Beach, Florida in the winter. These were the things she loved.

She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children Robert (Sandra) Tuinstra, Richard (Joann) Tuinstra, Mary (Richard) Rhew, Patricia (Gregg Rairigh) Potter, Donald (Tamera) Tuinstra, Edward (Rebecca) Tuinstra, Carol (Thomas) Cecil; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Janet (Dean) Hambleton; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Tuinstra; daughter Sue Tuinstra; foster parents Jack and Helen Datema; biological parents Alfred and Angela Anderson; and four sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2PM, Sunday, February 5, 2017 with visitation one-hour prior at Cook Funeral Home (East Building – Memorial Chapel) – 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Rev. Ron Tuinstra will be officiating. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. In honor of Irene and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mel Trotter Ministries.
