
Age 62, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Grand Rapids, MI. He was born December 24, 1949 in Williamston, WV, the son of Frank and Minnie (York) Akers. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Survivors include: two stepchildren, Scott (Diane) Burris of Belleville and Hindman "Bingoa?? Burris of Swartz Creek, MI; three grandchildren, Tonya Burris, Tesha (Michael) Harding and Brian Burris; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Paige Harding; brothers and sisters, Frank Akers Jr., Carl Bruce Akers, Donnie Gene Akers, Clara (Jack) Queen, all of McVeigh, KY, Paul (Cathy) Akers of Ypsilanti, Ronnie Akers, Michael (Denise) Akers and Roger (Tammy) Akers, all of Jacksonville, FL, Kathy (Brian) Hatfield of Carroll, OH and Minnie (Don) May of MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Burris) Akers, his parents and one brother, Billy Ray Akers. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private interment at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
