
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Martha Amshey and his brother Simon Amshey, Jr.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Betty Hovinga Amshey; children, Dan Gummere, Sandy Dave MacDonald, Jimmy Amshey, Jr, Mary Mike Mansel, and Mike Gummere; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Delb Rector; sister-in-law, Nina Amshey; special friend, Frank; and his best buddy, Benji.
After serving in the army for 9 years, 5 years in Korea, Jim retired from General Motors after 30 years of service.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cook Memorial Chapel East Building. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville West Building.
