

James "Jim" Franklin Burkhardt, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Helen Burkhardt (nee Frank). He is also survived by his children and their spouses Timothy (Terry) Burkhardt, Deborah (Dan) Shockency, and Kevin (Lili) Burkhardt; grandchildren Christopher Falco, Scott Falco, Danielle Falco, and Lucy Lin; and great-granddaughter, Marceline (Marcy) Harrison.
Jim was born in Boonton, NJ and graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a 2nd Lieutenant, as well as being involved in many engineering organizations, societies, and clubs.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who valued his family more than anything. HIs love and laughter were felt everyday, even through his illness. He will be greatly missed and held in our hearts forever.
Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 4-5:30 p.m., with a service beginning at 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW Grandville, MI 49418.
