James Hooker

HOOKER - James Hooker, age 81, born July 15, 1925. Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, March 31, 2007. Preceded in death by his dear mother and father, Frank and Caroline Hooker, and brothers, Robert, William, Forrest, and sister, Marguerite, and one precious grandchild Chad. He is survived by his dear wife of 57 years, Viola Sue; his sons Thomas & Pamela Hooker, James & Kimberly Hooker, Daniel & Susan Hooker, Joel & Cindy Hooker, his brother Donald and half-brother and sister, Richard Hooker and Sandra Buzz Veldkamp. He has many grandchildren, Troy Amy Hooker, Tracy Tim Oberst, Jenni Simon Johnston, Terrin TenHopen, Callie, Colton, Josiah, Annie, Angel, Justin, Kira Hooker, Eric Brittany Dalton, Brad, Mitch, Cody Dalton; great grandchildren Madison and Sidney Hooker, Hayley Oberst, Lily Johnston, Laden and Carter Dalton; and many nieces and nephews all around the country and Canada. He is a lifetime member of Woodward Baptist Church and loved his church family dearly and was loved. James was a proud Navy Veteran of the Pacific Fleet during World War II. He served on the USS Wichita from 1943 to 1946. The family would like to thank Renal Associates Inc. for the many years of kidney dialysis and the friends we they have made through the years. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday at the Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 - 84th St SW. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, at Woodward Baptist Church, 2160 76th St. SW. In honor of Jim, contributions may be made to Woodward Baptist Church.
