
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sanford and Henrietta Meines, and his brothers, Harold “Butch” and David Meines.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Noreen Nethaway Meines; children, Barbara Rick Lutke, Sandra Thomas Groen, Kenneth Sherri Meines, and Douglas Jill Meines; step children, Scott Laura Conners, Christine Gerald Hill, and Janet Robert Kaminski; his 17 grandchildren; sisters, Kathy Kenneth Geelhoed, Jean Meines, and Mary Baker; the mother of his children, Joyce Koning; and his nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Jim served his community and retired after 33 years as a captain from the Wyoming Police Department. He served his country in the Battle Creek Air National Guard and retired with the rank of Command Chief Master Sergeant and it was also his honor to serve his God as a local pastor in the United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the South Wyoming United Methodist Church 2730 - 56th SW with Rev. Marcia Elders officiating.
The family will meet with relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home - 4235 Prairie SW - Grandville West building.
