

James Edwin Taylor, age 86, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday January 10, 2012. He was a loving husband to his wife Joan, a wonderful grandfather of seven, and great-grandfather of five. He is survived by his children Jill Marie (Michael F.) Beck, Drs. James Allen (Nancy J.) Taylor, and Jay Richard (Dr. Debra K.) Taylor.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Marie (Viergiever) Taylor; his wife of almost 60 years, Joan (St. Croix) Taylor; his sister Elaine (Taylor) Waldron; and his brother Gordon Taylor of Canada.
James proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. In the mid-1950's his influence as President of the W. MI Methodist Union helped purchase the property for Wesley Park UM Church in Wyoming, of which he was a charter member. As a life-long seeker of Truth, he volunteered for decades as Lay Speaker, Trustee and in maintenance services at church. In the community, he became an R.S.V.P. member affiliated with the Wyoming Police Department, helped school children learn to read, was a supporter of the neighborhood association, and operated a camera at the WKTV public television station.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at Wesley Park UMC, 1150-32nd St. in Wyoming at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28 with lunch following. Visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. If one chooses, memorials may be sent to Great Lakes Hospice or the Good Sam fund at Wesley Park.
