

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Pamela Russo; great-great aunt, Mary Kramer; and his four-legged friend, Pedro.
He will be deeply missed by his parents Laurie Van Ess and Joe (Angela) Van Ess; siblings Quinne Van Ess, Griffen Van Ess, and Myles Van Ess; significant other, Lydia Albright; and many extended family members and close friends.
Jory was very active and always on the go. He enjoyed all competitive activities, being outdoors, cooking and sports of all kinds. One of his life mottos was “Put in the work, and people will notice.” He also enjoyed sci-fi movies including Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.
Guests are invited for a Celebration of Life Open House from 4 - 7 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418.
In memory of Jory’s love for the outdoors, the family requests that guests wear their ‘best’ flannel or outdoor clothing.
