I had the priviledge to meet Kari in my OB clinical at GRCC. She was a very caring and special person. I watched her once in the OB nursery and she was so cute with the little babies. I also had the opportunity to talk to Kari about the Lord. She spoke openly about her faith and love for the Lord and how much her family meant to her as well. Kari has left an imprint on my life...and my sincere sympathy is extended to you.

God determined that on last week Friday night Kari's life was to be taken to be spent with HIM for all eternity. Dear DeVries Family,
 I read Kari's obituary in Monday's paper. I don't know you, nor did I ever meet your precious Kari, but for some reason I just feel compelled to write.
 Perhaps it's that she was so young, or that she obviously comes from a very loving family. Perhaps it's just that I know about pain in my own life, as I lost my wonderful wife, Rebecca, nearly one year ago, June 1, 2004. She was just 37 years of age.
 It's very obvious to me that you have faith in our Lord Jesus. What a wonderful Savior we both share. His Spirit is the giver of peace and comfort. He helped me through and is still helping me through the loss of my wife. 
 Even though we've never met, please know that your daughter's/sister's death struck a nerve of grief in my spirit. I'll pray the giver of peace will pour out an extra helping of peace and comfort to you.
 God bless you as you begin the journey of somehow learning to live your life without your special Kari.
 There will be a day when we are given all the answers we seek. There will be a day when we will never again say, "good-bye".
 Hold fast to that hope.

 I was one of Kari's instructors in nursing at GRCC. She was a lovely and caring young lady on the way to being a wonderful nurse. But God had a different plan for her and she is now dancing with the angels.  I knew Kari when I worked at Curves in Jenison. I always could remember who she was because of the enormous energy she brought into the club. She had talked with me about her goals of becoming a nurse and now I truly believe she is in heaven watching over all of us in grief and trying to comfort us. Dear DeVries Family,
 I am so sorry and saddened to hear of your loss and will keep you in my prayers as you struggle through this time. Kari was my daughter's soccer coach last year and we enjoyed her enthusiasm and sweet nature. She will be missed by many. 
 I lost my brother when he was 23 so I know what a huge hole that leaves in the family when one so young passes away. We struggle to understand why but have to continue leaning on God for strength that only He can give with the hope of knowing we'll be with our loved one again.
