

Lorraine O. Homrich Lindsay Kaverman Brenner, formerly of Byron Center, Reed City and Grand Rapids, Michigan and then Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the age of 92. Lorraine was the second daughter of seven born to Ted and Ethel Homrich. She was preceded in death by three husbands: Herbert D. Lindsay in 1954, Henry L. Kaverman in 1981, and John P. Brenner in 1987. A son, Henry Kaverman Jr., died in 1967.
She is survived by her children Jim (Bonnie) Kaverman, Dianne (Keith) Eichenberg, Sharon (Jim) Stieg, Cheryl (Ray) Saker, Dennis Lindsay, Thom Kaverman, Garry (Pat) Lindsay, Joe (Dawn) Kaverman, Mary (Tom) Fredell, Don (Sue) Kaverman, Herbert (Theresa) Lindsay, Steve (Amy) Kaverman, Marie (Aaron) Brinker, and John Kaverman. Also surviving are stepchildren Mark Brenner, Lisa Brenner, Matt (Charmane) Brenner, Jeff Brenner, Mary (Philip) Noreen, and Eric (Jhenny) Brenner. She also leaves 35 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, as well as step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her six beloved sisters - "The Homrich Girls" - Crystal Terrell Poll, Bernie Anderson Church, Sally Ocobock Sturm, Vi Shoemaker, Donna Ketelaar, and Leora Roersma, who all still live near their childhood home in Byron Center, as well as brother-in-law Paul Burch of Holland, Michigan and sister-in-law Rosie Kaverman of Delphos, Ohio.
A caretaker of many throughout her life Lorraine will be remembered as a gentle soul who valued family and friends above all else. She also loved her Catholic faith and was an active member of several congregations throughout her life: St. Sebastian Church, Byron Center; Holy Name, Grand Rapids; Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Belmont, Michigan; St. Philip Neri, Reed City; and St. Albert the Great, Knoxville, Tennessee. Her legacy is the love she showered on her family and friends; all born out of her love of, and faith in, God.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Lorraine's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Sunday at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 - 84th St. SW, with a Prayer Service at the beginning of the afternoon visitation at 2 PM. Funeral mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 23, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW. Msgr. William Duncan and Father Philip Shangraw will be presiding. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Wyoming, Michigan. In honor of Lorraine, contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Alzheimer's Association.
