Louanna Joyce Elya

Louanna Joyce Elya (Hodge), age 94, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 21, 2020. Louanna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elya; infant son, Charles Elya; parents Lawrence and Estella Hodge; and brothers Willard Hodge and Robert Hodge. As a direct descendent of the Massachusetts Wing family, she will be remembered by her children Kathy (Gary) Dauzet, Louis Elya, Charlyn (George) Bailey, Dennis (Beverly) Elya, Garry Elya, Roberta Elya, and Jerry Elya; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.

Louanna was loving and caring, always wanting to help others. She was a lifelong tomboy who loved life. Everybody got a loaf of her banana bread. Louanna lived a Christian life and was an excellent prayer warrior. Louanna went on special trips with her children and grandchildren. She camped until she was 90 years old. Louanna was an avid writer, poet, and storyteller. She made everyone feel special. She will be missed by all.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private extended family Celebration of Louanna’s Life will take place with a memorial service at a future date. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. In honor of Louanna and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mercy Ships or Strong Tower or Faith Hospice.
